What is ThermaWallPlus® and how is it used?

ThermaWallPlus® is an EPS (expanded Polystyrene) external insulating cladding system. It is an alternative to existing building methods. ThermaWallPlus® is fixed to a timber or metal frame to that meets Australian standards. The boards can be hung horizontally or vertically. Who stocks the product, can I purchase direct from RMAX?

Build Technologies Pty Ltd is the exclusive distributor of ThermaWallPlus® in Western Australia.
RMAX does not sell ThermaWallPlus® direct to the public.

Who can install the product?

Build Technologies Pty Ltd have teams of installers in the metropolitan and regional areas that install the complete package, from a sarking, the board itself and then render and texture coat it. Having one highly skilled team onsite ensures a quick installation time and less chance for there to be costly delays to your project.

Is ThermaWallPlus® available as a DIY system?

Build Technologies Pty Ltd will sell the system as a DIY package. We do insist on checking/auditing the installation process prior to it being rendered and texture coated. We would also sell all fixing materials required for your job. We would not recommend that you attempt the render and texture process unless you have previous experience with acrylic and polymer renders.

How does ThermaWallPlus® compare in price to bricks or fibre cement board?

ThermaWallPlus® saves time in erection costs due to the ease of installation. We do recommend that you discuss this with your local distributor, as transport and labour costs may have a bearing upon the overall figures. Savings are ongoing as ThermaWallPlus® also insulates thus reducing heating costs in winter and cooling costs in summer.

What is the fire performance of ThermaWallPlus®?

ThermaWallPlus® comprises an EPS (expanded Polystyrene) core that is made of self-extinguishing expanded polystyrene. (It self-extinguishes when the source of the flame is removed.) We have developed a system that allows us to us the ThermaWallPlus® system in areas up to BAL (Bushfire Attack Level) 19. For more information please contact Build Technologies.

What is the noise/sound resistance of the board?

No official tests have been conducted by RMAX, however with the use of other sound-inhibiting materials a wall made up of 40mm ThermaWallPlus® can obtain a rating of 40 STC.

Is ThermaWallPlus® termite resistant?

ThermaWallPlus® contains Perform Guard® – an exclusive termite resistant additive. RMAX Perform Guard® EPS is termite resistant but should always be used as part of an overall termite treatment program. ThermaWallPlus® is the only EPS cladding system that has termite resistance within the board itself.

What thermal rating can I expect?

75mm ThermaWallPlus® with 10mm plasterboard on a 90mm stud will generate 2.45 R-value.
See ThermawallPlus® Technical Data Manual.

What thickness do you recommend?

In Western Australia, due to the extreme variations in temperature, we recommend 75mm ThermaWallPlus® providing 2.45 R-value (the measure of thermal resistance). It has excellent thermal insulating value and a depth of reveal at windows that enhances its architectural appearance.

What sizes do the ThermaWallPlus® panels come in?

The ThermaWallPlus® panels come in lengths of 2.5m or 3m are 1.2m wide and come in depths of 40mm, 75mm and 100mm.

Where can I can use ThermaWallPlus®?

ThermaWallPlus® is the only EPS cladding system that has been rated for use in C4 cyclone regions (far North West). This means that Build Technologies are able to supply this system to clients throughout Western Australia. There is a variation to the fixing requirements when used in C4 cyclone regions.

What happens if someone hits it hard with a ball or a mower kicks stones against the wall?

ThermaWallPlus® has a high impact resistance. The material may dent, depending on the velocity of the projectile, but the dent is very easily patched.

How do I fix downpipes or light fittings to the ThermaWallPlus®?

Build Technologies stock a range of products specifically designed for the use in EPS cladding systems.

Will Build Technologies design my new home/renovation using ThermaWallPlus®?

Build Technologies does not have an in house design team. However, we do have close working relationships with several Architects and Designers around Perth and we will gladly put you in contact with them.
